jewelry, mens jewelry     Jewelry Business

Years ago I learned how to make some simple beaded jewelry. It was fun and a way to let myself be creative after working in a small cubical from 9 to 5. Eventually I got quite good at it. I would start creating as soon as I got home from work. I ended up making a lot of jewelry.

I started to sell it at craft fairs. Then I moved up to festivals during the summer. I started buying my jewelry making supplies from wholesalers. I turned my hobby into a real business. I started off with about $35 in supplies and by the end of seven years I was making about $30,000 a year just selling at summer festivals. Part of my success was because I made unusual sizes and designs. I created ladies and mens jewelry. Most people made pieces for ladies, not many designed mens jewelry. One of the other vendors told me it was because there was no market for mens jewelry. I was happy to sell to men and ladies alike. Eventually I ended up getting a retail website. Now I work from home, making a living doing something I love.
