Handing Down Gold Jewelry |

Last week was my Grandmothers 75th birthday and we had a huge family gathering. She has been a wonderful mother and Grandma and I wanted to make sure my daughter sent as much time with her as possible. After most of the guests had gone Grandma took me and my daughter aside and asked me to get her jewelry box from on top of her vanity and bring it to her. When I did she opened it and started explaining that it was time she started passing down her gold jewelry collection and she wanted both my daughter and I to pick a piece of jewelry we particularly liked and keep it for ourselves. I was both touched and surprised as she explained she would be leaving her collection of jewelry to all the females in the family. After we chose our piece she would have everyone else do the same. I chose a necklace that I remember her wearing all the time as I was growing up and my daughter chose a charm bracelet that she could continue to add charms to as she grew. It was a wonderful gesture on Grandmas part and just one more indication of why she is so loved. |
